Online Giving Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the benefit of this new option?  Online Giving will simplify your contributions by decreasing the number of checks you write to the church.  No more last minute check writing as you are running out the door to attend worship service.  This option also helps the church by ensuring consistent donations throughout the year, particularly in the usually lower-attended summer months.  This program will replace the current Electronic Giving program which has the church pulling the money from your bank account.  Now you can be completely in control of your giving.

Q: How do I start? If you have not done so before, you need to register using the same email address that Aldersgate has in its database.  Don’t know the address we have?  Use the same email address that receives “This Week at Aldersgate.”  Then under “Profile”, press the green button that says “Give Online.”

Note: If the church does not have an email address on file for you, please send an email to office@aldersgate.net and ask to be added. If you do not want to receive weekly “This Week at Aldersgate” email updates from the church, request that your email be “unlisted.”

Q: Can I try out the service by giving one time? Yes. You may try Online Giving at any time for one time.  Or you can set up a recurring donation schedule.

Q: Do I have to go to the web site each time I want to contribute?  You can go to the web site each and every time you want to make a contribution.  But an easier way is to set up a recurring payment schedule.  Just click the “Recurring” box, and then choose the frequency you want: weekly, every 2 weeks, monthly, or every 3 months.  You can choose the number of payments or give a date of the last contribution.

Q:  Will I still be able to give to special offerings?  Yes.  We encourage your participation in special offerings.  Those offerings will be collected in the offering plate.  Currently we are accepting online donations for the Mission & Ministry budget, the Building Fund budget, and the fund called “Close the Gap” which will be used to catch up the two budgets for 2008.  In the near future, we hope to expand the list of options to include mission programs and special offerings.

Q: How can I keep a record of the amount I have contributed? Your bank statement and your credit card statement will include an itemized list of automatic gifts given from your account. If you make a pledge, we will continue to provide you with a mailed quarterly contribution statement for your records.

Q: How do I participate in the offering during the worship service if I give online? If you wish, you can place the I Gave Online card from the pew rack in the offering plate, but it is not necessary.
