Beginning January 18, Aldersgate will begin a 6 week community-wide study of Scot McKnight's book, The Jesus Creed.  

McKnight is a popular author, speaker and blogger whose academic and commerical work focuses on how Christians can make Jesus' life their own.

His blog, http://blog.beliefnet.com/jesuscreed, is award-winning and one of the most frequented Christian blogs on the web.

The Jesus Creed takes the Shema of the Old Testament and the Greatest Commandment of the New Testament and makes it a guide for Christians' personal and professional lives:

'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these.

McKnight's book will be the sermon focus for the 6 weeks of the study and small groups will be meeting throughout that time to view a DVD based discussion of McKnight's work and discuss the book.
