The Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations

We’re focusing on the five practices of healthy, vital and fruitful congregations. People are searching for a church shaped and sustained by these exciting and contagious ideas. Many in the congregation have already begun this journey, starting with the Retreat in June and continuing with training seminars in September led by Bishop Robert Schnase, author of the book, The Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations.

Each weekend, one practice will be the theme of the sermon and the focus of a lay witness. On the final weekend of the campaign, we welcome a special preacher to join us. Join us as we learn more about:  Radical Hospitality, Risk Taking Missions and Service, Passionate Worship, Intentional Faith Development, and Extravagant Generosity

Plan to be at Aldersgate on Commitment Weekend,

November 21/22!

This is going to be a “Can’t Miss” event that features the dynamic guest speaker, Dr. Cleophus J. Larue, a leading expert in African American preaching and worship!

This also is when we will joyfully commit our prayers, presence, gifts and service for 2010 as we offer Commitment Cards together!

Once again it is time to recommit ourselves in Aldersgate’s fall campaign.

Our 2010 goals are:

  • 715 Commitments for Individual Adult Service
  • 500 Commitment Cards with Financial Pledges
  • An Entire Congregational Increase in Personal Percentage Given

Commitment Weekend is November 21/22: This is an important occasion – new members will be making their commitment to Aldersgate, and everyone will bring commitment cards to church indicating where they will volunteer and how much money they will contribute to the church in 2010. We expect to see YOU here that weekend - Be Part of It!
